‘My work explores the symbiotic relationship between the human and the domestic object. We have evolved into such domesticated beings that rely upon the function and utility of the object for our comfortable existences. The domestic object also has an evolution, not only to perfect its function but also an aesthetic evolution, its style and design changes through time to suit our tastes. Therefore a certain style of object can have a place in our pasts, can possess a nostalgic power, conjuring up subjective associations and memories. These objects become reflections of ourselves, not only through our aesthetic taste and consumer choices, but also by becoming stamped with the traces we leave of ourselves in such forms as scratches and stains, fingerprints, dust and worn surfaces. My work aims to explore this intimate relationship we have with the domestic object in a quite grotesque, absurd and humorous way.’
